A teenager in Nashville, aged 19, is facing a myriad of charges after he refused to stop for law enforcement officers and led them on a high-speed chase across Davidson County, according to officials.

The incident took place on the evening of Saturday, February 24, at approximately 10:30 p.m. when an officer tried to pull over a grey Infiniti G36 at the intersection of Nolensville Road and Paragon Mills Road. The vehicle had a cloth covering its license plate and sped off at a rapid pace upon the activation of lights and sirens.

Despite the officer’s attempt to stop the Infiniti, the driver continued to evade law enforcement. The officer eventually deactivated his emergency equipment, but the MNPD’s Air One helicopter continued to track the vehicle as it travelled along Harding Place and headed north on I-65.

On a second attempt to stop the vehicle on I-65 near Chestnut Street, the driver once again accelerated, leading to another failed attempt by law enforcement to bring the car to a halt. The pursuit continued onto I-24 and eventually onto the 300 block of West Trinity Lane.

During the third attempt to stop the vehicle, the Infiniti driver fled once more, endangering pedestrians in the vicinity and almost colliding with another vehicle. The helicopter continued to follow the Infiniti to an Antioch residence located in the 900 block of Lydia Drive.

Upon reaching the residence, the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Hans Catalan-Rodriguez, abandoned the vehicle and attempted to seek refuge inside the home. Law enforcement officers arrived on the scene and ordered Rodriguez to exit the property.

After compliance with the officers’ orders, Rodriguez was taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of a Guatemalan ID and admitted to not having a valid driver’s license when questioned by the authorities.

As a result of his actions, Rodriguez has been charged with three counts of evading arrest, resisting arrest, and driving without a valid driver’s license. He is currently being held in custody on a bond amounting to $54,000.
