Accident – Death – Obituary News : An escort vehicle from the convoy of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, the former deputy chief minister, and the leader of the opposition Tejashwi Yadav was involved in a tragic accident in Bihar’s Purnea late Wednesday night. The collision resulted in the death of at least one person, identified as 50-year-old home guard Haleem Alam, who was the driver of the escort vehicle. Additionally, six personnel of Bihar Military Police (BMP) who were in the same police jeep sustained injuries in the accident.

The injured BMP jawans were rushed to Purnea’s Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Fortunately, their condition was reported to be stable, according to the police.

The superintendent of police in Purnea, Upendra Nath Verma, explained that the accident occurred as Tejashwi Yadav was passing through the district on his way to Katihar. A police jeep from the escort team, while attempting to keep up with Yadav’s vehicle, veered onto the wrong side of the Purnea-Katihar road and collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the police jeep, Home guard Mohd Halim, tragically lost his life in the crash.

Tejashwi Yadav is currently conducting a “Jan Vishwas Yatra” across the state of Bihar, which began on February 20 from Muzaffarpur and is set to continue for 11 days, covering all 38 districts of the state. The yatra is scheduled to conclude on March 1, just ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

This incident comes at a crucial time for the RJD party, as it follows their defeat and subsequent ousting from power on January 28 when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar aligned with the BJP to form a new government. The tragic accident serves as a somber reminder of the risks and challenges involved in political campaigns and rallies, highlighting the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in such events..
