Iloilo City Police Apprehend Individuals for Violating Laws Protecting Women and Children
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station (MPS) conducted separate operations on Monday, February 26, 2024, resulting in the apprehension of individuals facing charges related to violence against women and children.
Arrest of German National in Iloilo City
In the Mandurriao District of Iloilo City, the Iloilo City Police Station 5 (ICPS5) arrested a 51-year-old German national known as alias Robert in Barangay Onate De Leon. The arrest took place at approximately 3:09 p.m. on Monday. Robert is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.
The arrest warrants issued for Robert under Criminal Case Numbers 24-90930 and 24-90931 were issued by Judge Elijo Sharon Ronzales Herrera-Bellones of RTC Branch 27, Sixth Judicial Region, Iloilo City. The bail amount recommended for Robert is set at P72,000 and P2,000. Currently, the suspect is in detention at the ICPS5 awaiting transfer to court.
Apprehension of Individual in Barotac Nuevo
In Barangay Linao, Barotac Nuevo, the Barotac Nuevo MPS arrested a 50-year-old man identified as alias Joey at around 7:00 a.m. on the same day. Joey is facing charges for violating Republic Act 7610, also known as the Child Abuse Law.

The arrest warrant issued for Joey under Criminal Case Number 24-11242 was issued by Judge Vicente Go of RTC Branch 68, Sixth Judicial Region, Dumangas, Iloilo. The recommended bail amount for Joey is P480,000. Currently, the suspect is in detention at the Barotac Nuevo MPS awaiting transfer to court.
Commendation from Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the acting regional director of the Police Regional Office Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the officers involved in both operations. Wanky emphasized PRO 6’s commitment to combating abuse, especially against women and youth, and ensuring the apprehension of law offenders and justice for victims of abuse.
Wanky stated, “PRO 6 is firm in its stand against any form of abuse, particularly towards women and youth. We will guarantee that all law offenders are apprehended and justice is served to victims of abuse.”
