Man Killed and Teen Injured in Two Fresno Shootings

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Police Department has identified the man who was fatally shot in one of the two shootings that occurred in the City of Fresno over the weekend.

Authorities responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 4200 block of North Fruit Avenue in Fresno on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers found 38-year-old Deandre Jackson with multiple gunshot wounds. Jackson was rushed to CRMC for medical treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Later that day, at 12:45 p.m., officers received another call about a shooting in the 3100 block of West Norwich Avenue. The victim in this incident was a 16-year-old male juvenile who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was also taken to CRMC and is currently in critical but stable condition.

Investigators have revealed that the shooting of the 16-year-old was connected to the earlier incident on North Fruit Avenue. It was determined that an altercation took place in a parking lot involving several individuals before the gunshots were fired. Detectives are actively working to identify and interview witnesses and are reviewing video surveillance footage from the area.

Isolated Incident

The Fresno Police Department has classified this incident as an isolated one involving a group of individuals who were known to each other. This marks the fourth homicide in Fresno for the year 2024.
