David Coulson Jr., the main suspect in the case, has been charged with residential burglary, open murder, and conspiracy to commit murder, as per official records.

The tragic event unfolded on January 17, just before midnight, when Metro police received a distress call reporting a shooting incident. Upon arrival at the scene on Helen Belle Drive in Las Vegas, officers discovered the victim, identified as Kyle Dotson, deceased from gunshot wounds inside a residence.

The victim’s wife recounted to authorities that the altercation stemmed from a disagreement that occurred on January 13, following a night out to celebrate her birthday. The argument escalated over accusations of infidelity, leading to a physical altercation where Dotson assaulted his wife. The situation worsened when Dotson resorted to drug use, further fueling the conflict.

In the days that followed, the victim’s family became aware of the abuse and decided to take matters into their own hands. David Coulson Sr., the father of the victim’s wife, along with his son, David Coulson Jr., and their partners, Shaleece Brown and Veronica Nezey, orchestrated a plan to confront Dotson.

On the fateful night of January 17, the suspects stormed into the victim’s residence, with Coulson Jr. delivering the fatal shots that claimed Dotson’s life. The group quickly fled the scene after the violent act.

Authorities later uncovered that Coulson Sr., Nezey, and another accomplice, Jimmy James Johnson, had travelled from California to Las Vegas to carry out the attack. Brown and Coulson Jr., who reside in Las Vegas, were actively involved in the planning and execution of the crime.

In the weeks following the incident, arrests were made as the suspects were identified and apprehended. Shaleece Brown surrendered herself to authorities on January 24, facing charges of open murder, conspiracy to commit murder, child abuse or neglect, and residential burglary.

Subsequent arrests followed, with Coulson Sr., Nezey, and Johnson being taken into custody in connection with the case. Veronica Nezey voluntarily turned herself in at the Clark County Detention Center on February 5, while Jimmy James Johnson was apprehended by the Anaheim Police Department on February 14.

David Coulson Jr., the alleged mastermind behind the attack, was arrested on February 16 by the Criminal Apprehension Team and charged with open murder with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, and burglary.
