A tragic incident occurred on Monday on Chickamauga Lake as Phil Acord, a respected figure and longtime CEO of Chattanooga’s Chambliss Center for Children, was found dead. The 78-year-old Acord met with a fatal accident while out boating, marking the first boating-related fatality in Tennessee this year, as reported by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

According to the agency’s news release, Acord fell overboard at around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, plunging into the chilly 53-degree waters without a life jacket. He had been enjoying a fishing trip with a companion when the unfortunate incident occurred.
