Accident – Death – Obituary News : Mumbai: A 56-year-old traffic police constable was assaulted by three men while he and his colleague were discharging their duties and taking action against unauthorized parking in Andheri West. Versova Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the trio.

The incident took place on the evening of February 22 when Constable Ajay Korlekar, attached to the DN Nagar traffic division, received a call about unauthorized parking near a restaurant on Juhu-Versova Link Road. Korlekar and his colleague, Constable Dhekle, immediately responded to the location.
Upon reaching the restaurant, Korlekar began speaking to the restaurant manager while Dhekle started taking action against the vehicles parked illegally. Suddenly, three unidentified men in their late thirties approached Korlekar. According to Korlekar’s complaint, one of the men, later identified as Ashok Areli, slapped him.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by traffic police officers in Mumbai while carrying out their duties to maintain order on the streets. Assaults on law enforcement officers are unacceptable and must be condemned.
