Milwaukee Man Arrested After High-Speed Police Chase in Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, Wis. – A 21-year-old Milwaukee man is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase that reached speeds of over 120 miles per hour on Sunday, Feb. 25.

The Incident

Angel Hernandez, the accused, is charged with attempting to flee or elude an officer and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. The chase began when a Brookfield police officer noticed a gray Audi with a loud exhaust and no rear registration plate around 3 a.m. near 128th and W. Capitol Drive.

The officer attempted to pull over the Audi, but Hernandez accelerated, reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone. Despite efforts to stop the vehicle, including setting up tire deflation devices, Hernandez continued to evade police, reaching speeds of 122 miles per hour.

The Conclusion

The chase ended when Hernandez lost control of the Audi, crashing into two signs and nearly hitting a police squad car. He was arrested along with two passengers, and it was noted that the airbags on the passenger side had deployed due to the crash. Hernandez later admitted that he fled because his license and plates were suspended.

Legal Proceedings

Angel Hernandez appeared in Waukesha County court on Monday, Feb. 26, where a cash bond of $3,500 was set. Despite no illegal items found in the vehicle, Hernandez’s reckless actions have led to serious charges and potential consequences.
