Tragic School Bus Crash in Tennessee Leaves Driver Dead
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) – A devastating incident unfolded on Monday morning in Hawkins County, Tennessee, as a school bus driver lost her life in a fatal crash, as reported by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The tragic event took place at around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 70 North at Willow Road. A 55-year-old school bus driver, Aleita Gladson, from Rogersville, was involved in a collision with an 18-year-old man from Eidson, who was driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado in the wrong direction on Highway 70 North.
Despite wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Aleita Gladson succumbed to her injuries. Hawkins County School District director Matt Hixson expressed his deep sorrow at the loss, remembering Gladson as a dedicated and valued member of the school transportation department.
Hixson requested the community to keep Aleita’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. He also revealed that two students who were on the bus at the time of the crash sustained minor injuries and were promptly taken for medical attention.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado, who was not wearing a seat belt, also suffered injuries in the collision. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has indicated that charges against him are pending as investigations continue into the circumstances of the tragic incident.
