WACO, Texas – Teen Arrested for Manslaughter in Fatal Shooting

An 18-year-old individual has been taken into custody and charged with manslaughter following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl in Waco, Texas.

The Waco Police Department has confirmed that Jada Millwood, aged 18, is now facing manslaughter charges in connection with a shooting incident that took place on February 25, 2024. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Myesha McCants, was discovered with gunshot wounds at the 3900 Block of S. Jack Kultgen Expressway at 1:39 a.m. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, McCants succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to a nearby medical facility.

According to reports, Millwood was reportedly handling a firearm recklessly when it accidentally discharged, resulting in the tragic death of McCants. Millwood remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officers during the initial investigation. Following the incident, Millwood was taken into custody and transported to the McLennan County Jail for further legal proceedings.

The next of kin of the victim has been notified about this devastating incident. This tragic event marks the third homicide investigation of the year 2024 in Waco.
