Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Three in Southeast Ohio

Tragedy struck in Jackson, Ohio, as a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff, claiming the lives of a father, his son, and a family friend. The trio was en route to Florida to pick up a newly purchased vehicle when the fatal incident occurred over the weekend, according to authorities.

The pilot, identified as 44-year-old Daniel Baker from Jackson, was accompanied by his father and 45-year-old Zebulon Logan from Lucasville on the ill-fated journey. The plane, a Piper PA 32 Cherokee Six, went down in a field just a quarter-mile north of the James A. Rhodes Airport, where the three victims lost their lives.

Following the crash, emergency responders discovered the burning wreckage of the aircraft near the roadway. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames by the Jackson Fire Department, all occupants were found deceased at the scene. The victims, including Daniel Baker’s father, Robert Daniel Baker, aged 78 from Lucasville, and the family friend Zebulon Logan, were confirmed dead.

Authorities have since transferred the remains of the victims to the Montgomery County coroner’s office for autopsies. The investigation into the cause of the crash will involve the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Federal Aviation Administration, and National Transportation Safety Board.
