SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — The tight-knit community of San Tan Valley is mourning the loss of a young girl, identified as 4-year-old Mia Preston, who tragically lost her life after being struck by a car in a residential neighborhood late last week.

On Friday, Feb. 23, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing call regarding a pedestrian accident in a residential area near Combs Road and Painted Desert Drive. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found Mia Preston with severe injuries after being hit by a vehicle. Despite their best efforts, she succumbed to her injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The Pinal County Vehicular Crimes Task Force is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The driver involved in the collision cooperated with authorities and is fully engaged in the ongoing investigation. At this time, it remains uncertain whether any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
