GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC/Gray News) – A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Goose Creek, South Carolina, as a mother and her 15-year-old son lost their lives in a double murder-suicide, authorities have confirmed.

According to reports, law enforcement officers received a distressing call around 9:43 p.m. on Saturday, alerting them to a potentially dangerous situation at a residence on Water Oak Drive. The caller informed police that an intoxicated man was allegedly holding hostages at gunpoint.

Upon arrival at the scene, police swiftly surrounded the property, and hostage negotiators attempted to establish communication with the suspect, later identified as 43-year-old Nicholas Hegwein.

Tragically, the outcome was devastating, as Goose Creek Police SWAT teams entered the home to find three individuals – two adults and a juvenile – lifeless from gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as 43-year-old Tracy McEvoy and her teenage son William Allen McEvoy, both residents of Goose Creek.
