Thomas James Wolford, a 32-year-old resident of Rose Township, found himself in a precarious situation after a night out with a friend took a dangerous turn.

HOLLY, Mich. (FOX 2) –
Two acquaintances, who were also colleagues, had an eventful night out that ended in tragedy when one inadvertently discharged a firearm, causing injury in the quaint village of Holly in northern Oakland County, Michigan.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, but the perpetrator, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident and did not possess a valid concealed pistol license, was swiftly apprehended and charged by law enforcement authorities.

Thomas Wolford, a resident of Rose Township, appeared in court shortly after the incident and faced charges of carrying a concealed weapon as well as two misdemeanours.

According to local law enforcement, officers responded to a residence on E. Maple Street on the evening of February 22, following reports of a man sustaining a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they discovered a 28-year-old individual from Rose Township with injuries to his right hip and buttock area.

The victim recounted that the shooting occurred when the pair were returning from their night out, and he had pulled over to relieve himself. As he re-entered the vehicle, he heard a sudden noise followed by a sharp pain in his side, indicating that the firearm had been discharged accidentally by his companion, Wolford.

Subsequent investigations by the authorities revealed that both men were colleagues and had been out together that evening. The victim, who was driving, stopped to use the restroom, and as he returned to the vehicle, the firearm in Wolford’s possession discharged, causing the injury.

The injured individual then sought help at a friend’s residence, where emergency services were summoned. Both parties corroborated the sequence of events to the police.

Wolford, aged 32, was granted a $10,000 personal bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 3 for further proceedings.
