The driver of the Ford Explorer, identified as 31-year-old John Wadlinger of Croydon, was captured on camera fleeing the scene on foot after the crash. Bristol Police Lieutenant Sean Cosgrove recounted how Wadlinger attempted to steal a tri-axle dump truck from a nearby industrial area but ultimately lost control of the vehicle and was apprehended by authorities.
