Tragic Car Crash Leaves Two Dead in Bristol, Pennsylvania
An alleged hit-and-run driver is now in custody following a devastating car crash in Bristol, Pennsylvania, that resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left two others injured. The incident took place at the intersection of Veterans Highway and Ford Road on Saturday afternoon.

Surveillance footage captured the moment a black Ford Explorer was seen speeding along Ford Road before colliding with a red Nissan Sentra at the intersection. The impact of the crash was so severe that the SUV came to a halt approximately 100 feet down the road.
Authorities identified the driver of the Ford Explorer as 31-year-old John Wadlinger from Croydon. After fleeing the scene on foot, Wadlinger attempted to steal a tri-axle dump truck from a nearby industrial area. However, he lost control of the vehicle and was apprehended shortly after.
Tragically, two passengers in the Nissan, identified as Rebecca and Richard Whiddon from Brooklyn, Connecticut, lost their lives in the crash. The couple, who were visiting a friend in the area, had been married since 2017. Another passenger remains in critical condition, while the driver of the Nissan miraculously escaped with minor injuries.
The owner of Beach’s Hardware, located near the intersection, described the crash as the most severe he had witnessed in over 25 years. Despite the loud impact, the driver of the Nissan managed to survive the collision.

Investigating officers expressed the difficulty of dealing with such a tragic incident. Lieutenant Sean Cosgrove highlighted the rarity of a married couple being killed in such a manner, emphasizing the severity of the crash.
At present, Wadlinger is being held on a detainer related to a previous conviction, unrelated to the recent crash. Formal charges in connection with the incident are pending as the investigation continues.
This heartbreaking event serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of road safety. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragedy.
