Oakland Resident Arrested for Trespassing and Brandishing Weapon in Colma

An Oakland resident was arrested by the Colma Police Department on Friday for trespassing and brandishing a weapon at a business owner. The incident occurred in the 7600 block of El Camino Real in Colma, California.

Homeowner Notices Trespasser

The situation unfolded when a homeowner noticed a man entering the backyard of a residence without permission. The vigilant homeowner promptly escorted the man out of the property and immediately contacted the authorities.

Police Response and Search

Responding officers arrived at the scene on Clark Avenue and D Street at 8:14 p.m. The suspect’s description matched that of a prowler reported by a neighbouring agency earlier. The South San Francisco Police Department’s K-9 unit and the San Bruno Police Department’s drone unit were deployed to set up a perimeter, but the search was unsuccessful.

Suspect Detained at Business Property

At 10:37 p.m., Colma police officers received a report of a man trespassing on a business property in the 600 block of Serramonte Boulevard. The suspect matched the descriptions from the previous incidents. Officers located the suspect in a portable toilet and detained him.

Arrest and Resistance

The 29-year-old Oakland resident was identified as the suspect by the homeowner. During transportation from the Colma Police Station to the San Mateo County Jail, the suspect began physically resisting the officers. Due to his unruly behaviour, the officers had to place him in restraints to ensure safety during transit.

The Colma Police Department commended the homeowner for their quick actions and cooperation in apprehending the suspect. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities.
