Accident – Death – Obituary News : An NRI from Australia was reportedly abducted by a group of six individuals and subjected to a violent assault in an attempt to extort Rs 1.3 lakh from him. The incident took place in Bengaluru, where the suspects were swiftly apprehended by the Bommanahalli police.

Initial investigations conducted by the police indicated that the NRI had arranged to meet the perpetrators on February 20 under the pretense of purchasing ganja. However, upon meeting the group, he was forcibly taken to a secluded location near a private school on Bommanahalli Road. The assailants proceeded to physically assault the victim and demand additional funds from him, under the misguided belief that he possessed a substantial amount of money.
In an effort to escape the harrowing situation, the NRI made two separate payments totaling Rs 98,000. He then contacted his brother and requested an additional sum of Rs 40,000 as the attackers continued to inflict harm upon him. Quick thinking on the part of the NRI’s brother, who utilized the car’s GPS to track down the location, led to the timely intervention that prompted the suspects to flee.
With the aid of technological evidence, the police were able to swiftly apprehend the culprits within a day of receiving the complaint. The individuals responsible for the abduction and assault have been identified as Monish alias Manu, Lokesh alias Loki, Kishor Shiva, Athi alias Rooth, Dilip Kumar, and Satish alias Chandru, all aged between 21 and 27. Originally hailing from Tamil Nadu and currently residing in southern Bengaluru, these individuals orchestrated the violent act in a bid to exploit the NRI’s perceived wealth.
It was discovered that the NRI had previously purchased ganja from one of the suspects on multiple occasions. Upon learning of the victim’s Australian background, the peddler, accompanied by his associates, resorted to violence in an attempt to illicitly acquire funds, banking on the assumption that the victim would refrain from reporting the incident.

A police official involved in the investigation disclosed that the NRI had established contact with Monish via a dating app several months prior, engaging in ganja transactions on a few occasions. The misinterpretation of the victim’s financial status by Monish led to the violent altercation. Further investigations led to the arrest of Sathyanarayan Mahato, a man linked to the sale of ganja, suspected to have supplied the substance to college students in the area. Authorities seized 400 grams of ganja valued at Rs 24,000 from Mahato, initiating legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The swift action taken by law enforcement in apprehending the perpetrators and their accomplices underscores the commitment to maintaining public safety and upholding the rule of law in Bengaluru. The timely intervention of the NRI’s brother serves as a testament to the importance of vigilance and cooperation in combating criminal activities. This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with illicit transactions and the importance of exercising caution when engaging in such activities.
