The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has reported that an arrest has been made in relation to a shooting incident that occurred on Oct. 30, 2023, on the 4300 block of Halley Terrace, SE in Washington, D.C.

Details of the Incident

According to official MPD documents, officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of Halley Terrace following reports of a shooting. While en route to the scene, officers were approached on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue by an individual with gunshot wounds. The injured man was promptly taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. As the investigation unfolded, authorities were informed of another victim who had arrived at a local hospital and tragically succumbed to their injuries.

Victim Identification

The deceased victim has been identified as 23-year-old Melvin Dock Jr., whose life was cut short in this senseless act of violence.

Arrest and Charges

On Feb. 22, 21-year-old Maleek Thomas was apprehended and formally charged with first-degree murder while armed in connection to the fatal shooting that claimed the life of Melvin Dock Jr.
