Arrest Made in Moosic, Lackawanna County

On a chilly February night in Moosic, Lackawanna County, the Moosic Borough Police Department made a shocking discovery that led to the arrest of two individuals. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning, around 1:30 a.m., on the 4500 block of Birney Avenue.

Suspicious Activity Unveiled

It all began when an alert officer noticed a white truck parked on the side of the road. Upon closer inspection, the officer observed a woman, later identified as Madison Mooney, attempting to wake up a man, later identified as Carlos Reales. Mooney explained to the officer that Reales was her fiance and had been driving for eight hours straight from North Carolina, causing him to fall asleep.

Drug-Related Discovery

Concerned for Reales’ well-being, police called for EMS assistance. As Reales received medical attention, officers noticed drug paraphernalia and packaging materials inside the truck. Further inspection revealed a loaded handgun on the driver’s side floor, along with heroin packets and an unknown orange pill.

Police Intervention

K-9 Skye, the police dog, was brought in and indicated the presence of narcotics in the truck. Following Reales’ transport to a nearby hospital for treatment, it was discovered that Madison Mooney had an active warrant for her arrest by the Pennsylvania State Police. Both individuals were subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Lackawanna County Processing Center.

Seizure of Illegal Substances

After obtaining a search warrant, authorities combed through the truck and uncovered a significant amount of illegal substances. The haul included suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, Xanax pills, and other narcotics, along with drug paraphernalia and a substantial amount of cash.
