Suspects in Custody After Fatal Subway Shooting in Bronx

Three individuals have been apprehended by authorities in connection with the tragic death of a man on a subway train in the Bronx. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning and has left the community in shock.

The suspects, namely 24-year-old Justin Herde, 38-year-old Betty Cotto, and 42-year-old Alfredo Trinidad, were taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force at an apartment located at Villa Avenue and East 205th Street just before noon on Monday.

According to detectives, the fatal altercation on the subway train stemmed from a dispute over a firearm, which ultimately led to the victim losing his life. The victim, identified as 45-year-old William Alvarez, was fatally shot on a southbound D train at the 182-183 Street station at approximately 5:30 a.m.

Reports from the NYPD indicate that Alvarez was seated on the train when two men and a woman boarded at the Fordham Road station. An argument ensued between Alvarez and one of the men, resulting in a physical altercation that led to the fatal shooting.

Tragically, this incident marks the third homicide within the subway system this year, highlighting the need for increased safety measures and vigilance among passengers.
