Tragic Crash on Hawaii Island Leaves One Dead, Two Children Injured
A devastating accident occurred on Hawaii Island, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two children. The incident took place below the intersection of Ke Ala O Keawe Road and Honaunau Road around 2:15 p.m.

Suspect identified and Arrested
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Keawemauhili Iolanikealoha Navas-Loa of Honaunau, was arrested following the head-on collision. Navas-Loa was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV when he crossed the double solid yellow lines and struck a Honda Accord sedan driven by Jerome “Tabu” Chadallen Kahoalii Heath of Kailua-Kona.
Tragic Loss of Life
Heath, the driver of the Honda Accord, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital. His 10-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter, who were also in the vehicle, were treated for their injuries and later released.
Legal Action Taken
Navas-Loa was arrested for second-degree negligent homicide in connection with the crash. Despite being released pending further investigation, the authorities are actively pursuing the case to bring justice for the victims.
