Man Arrested for DUI After Striking Hamilton County Officer’s Vehicle

A man was taken into custody on Sunday following an incident where he reportedly crashed into a Hamilton County officer’s car while driving under the influence.

The incident took place on Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m. when Corporal Channing Glenn was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 71 southbound. Glenn had pulled over on the right shoulder with his emergency lights flashing, as confirmed by Kyla Woods, a spokesperson for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

While Corporal Glenn was in the process of the traffic stop, another vehicle driven by 45-year-old Jeffrey Neltner from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, approached from the south on I-71. Neltner’s vehicle veered towards the right shoulder where Glenn was stationed, ultimately colliding with the officer’s cruiser.

Following the initial impact, Neltner’s vehicle continued southbound, swerving and eventually striking an overpass and an overpass bridge wall. Both Corporal Glenn and Neltner sustained injuries in the incident and were subsequently taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. They were discharged from the hospital the following day.

Authorities suspect that alcohol played a role in causing the crash, according to Woods.

Jeffrey Neltner is facing charges for various offenses, including failing to drive within marked lanes, failure to yield for a stopped public safety vehicle with emergency lights activated, and operating a vehicle under the influence.

It remains unclear whether Neltner had his seatbelt fastened at the time of the collision.
