Female Fatally Shot in Cape Charles, Virginia

Authorities in Cape Charles, Virginia, are investigating a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a female on February 24th.

Shooting Incident

At approximately 5:03 p.m., the Cape Charles Police Department received a report of gunshots being fired in the 500 block of Tazewell Avenue. Officers promptly responded to the scene to investigate the situation.

Victim identified

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the victim of the shooting, who has now been identified as Jane McKinley. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of emergency medical services, McKinley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect Apprehended

A suspect was swiftly identified and taken into custody at around 5:07 p.m. The individual in custody has been identified as 25-year-old Anthony Mercado.

Charges Filed
