Four Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 95 in West Haven, Connecticut

Connecticut State Police have provided details on the tragic incident that occurred on Sunday in West Haven, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. The fatal crash involved a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 South.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., 26-year-old Kyle Bulkley, a resident of New Haven, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado in the northbound lanes of the highway, travelling in the wrong direction and colliding head-on with a Nissan Altima in the left lane.

The Nissan Altima, driven by 25-year-old Husein Aili from Wolcott, was carrying two passengers, identified as 23-year-old Jolie Lubin from Trumbull and 22-year-old Samantha Birchard from Norwalk. Tragically, all three individuals succumbed to their injuries sustained in the collision.

Following the initial impact, Bulkley’s vehicle veered into the center lane, where it collided with a Nissan Sentra. The 42-year-old male driver of the Nissan Sentra and his 39-year-old female passenger sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Regrettably, Kyle Bulkley did not survive the crash and passed away as a result of his injuries. The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As a result of the collision and subsequent investigation, all lanes of Interstate 95 South were closed for several hours, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area. However, the roadway has since been reopened to the public.

The tragic events that unfolded in West Haven serve as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this devastating crash.
