WPD Launches Investigation into Fatal Shooting at E. 8th Street

Over the weekend, the Washington Police Department (WPD) responded to a distressing call of shots fired at the intersection of E. 8th Street and Charlotte Street. The incident took place on Saturday, Feb. 25, around 6 p.m., sending shockwaves through the local community.

Upon the arrival of officers, they found a bystander performing lifesaving measures on the victim, later identified as 52-year-old Eric Whitney Sr. of Washington, NC. Despite efforts to save him, Whitney succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to ECU Beaufort.
