The suspect in the deadly robbery at Milton-Freewater restaurant surrenders

MILTON-FREEWATER, Ore.- The individual sought in connection with the fatal robbery at the Red Tea Garden Restaurant on February 18 has voluntarily presented herself to authorities.

Emerald Julia Pena, as confirmed by Milton-Freewater Police, surrendered at the Umatilla County Jail around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 25. She is facing charges of Manslaughter and Robbery.

Authorities had identified Pena as a suspect in the ongoing investigation and had gathered sufficient evidence for her arrest by February 22. The case has now been passed on to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office for further assessment and potential prosecution.
