Man Accused of Stealing Credit Cards Turns Himself In
A 38-year-old man accused of stealing credit cards last December and fleeing from police when they caught up with him several weeks later recently turned himself in and has been arraigned on charges.
Brayton James Groth, who is facing charges of stealing a transaction device and fleeing/eluding police, is currently out on bond after posting bail.
Details of the Crime
According to Bloomfield Township police, the stolen credit cards were used at various locations in Royal Oak and Troy. The cards were taken from a purse that Groth allegedly stole from a car parked in a lot at 6608 Telegraph Rd. on December 30th. Once Groth was identified as the suspect, a felony warrant was issued for his arrest.

On February 13th, Bloomfield Township patrol officers attempted to pull Groth over to arrest him on the warrant, but he chose to flee. The officers decided not to pursue him at that time.
Turning Himself In
Nine days later, Groth voluntarily surrendered himself at 48th District Court for arraignment on the warrant related to the stolen credit cards. He posted a $2,500 cash bond and then went to the Bloomfield Township Police Department as instructed by the court to have his fingerprints taken. It was during this process that he was arrested for the fleeing/eluding charge, as indicated by the police.
Groth’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 7th.
