According to the police, the woman’s body was discovered on Feb 15, and the postmortem report revealed that she had died due to a head injury. Shockingly, the autopsy also revealed that the woman was two-and-a-half months pregnant at the time of her death.

An FIR was lodged based on the postmortem report, and the police launched an investigation into the matter. Through CCTV footage, the authorities were able to identify the accused, who was seen near the crime scene on the night of Feb 14. The suspect, identified as Johnny Sharma, was apprehended on Sunday morning.

During interrogation, Sharma confessed to the crime. He revealed that on the fateful evening, he had encountered the woman near Mainapur railway crossing while walking home from work. Sharma attempted to engage in conversation with her, but she rebuffed his advances.

Subsequently, Sharma purchased alcohol, consumed it, and returned to the area around 10.15pm in search of the woman. He managed to lure her into the bushes with the intention of assaulting her. However, his inebriated state hindered his attempts, and the woman resisted his advances.

In a fit of rage and fear of being reported to the authorities, Sharma resorted to violence. He grabbed a brick and struck the woman, resulting in her tragic demise.
