According to the Florida Highway Patrol, as the SUV approached the intersection, the front section of the vehicle collided with the bicyclist. The impact caused the man to be thrown from his bicycle and he came to a rest within the roadway.

Despite being rushed to a local hospital, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed by the authorities.

The SUV involved in the incident fled the scene, leaving the victim behind. Thankfully, vehicle parts found at the scene helped investigators identify the vehicle as a 2010-2015 Chevrolet Equinox SUV. The FHP has highlighted that the SUV will exhibit noticeable front-end damage.
