MIDDLEBORO TRAGEDY: 11-Year-Old Girl identified as Victim in Fatal House Fire

Authorities have officially confirmed the identity of the young victim who tragically lost her life in a devastating house fire that occurred in Middleboro early Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as 11-year-old Jasmine Lane.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded when emergency crews responded to a distress call reporting a structure fire at 27 Pearl St. with individuals trapped inside. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with intense flames engulfing both the first and second floors of the residence. Despite their valiant efforts to combat the blaze and prevent its spread to neighbouring properties, the conditions proved too hazardous for immediate access.

Desperate attempts were made to rescue Jasmine, who was believed to be trapped inside the burning building. Regrettably, due to the ferocity of the fire, first responders were unable to reach her in time. Tragically, Jasmine was found lifeless within the home once the flames had been extinguished.

In the aftermath of the fire, a 61-year-old woman sustained severe burn injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Additionally, a 59-year-old man and another young female were both taken to Good Samaritan Hospital to receive care for their injuries.

Firefighting units from Raynham, Bridgewater, and Lakeville provided crucial support at the scene, while additional firefighters from Carver were on standby to cover Middleborough stations during the emergency response.

Investigation Underway

Multiple agencies, including the Middleborough Fire Department, Middleborough Police Department, State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police under the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire.

While the precise circumstances leading to the tragic incident remain under scrutiny, preliminary assessments suggest that no foul play is suspected at this time.
