Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Three on Route to Florida

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a small plane carrying three individuals crashed shortly after takeoff in southeast Ohio, resulting in the loss of lives of a father, his son, and a family friend. The trio was en route to Florida to collect a newly purchased vehicle when the tragic incident occurred over the weekend, authorities have confirmed.

The pilot of the ill-fated flight has been identified as 44-year-old Daniel Baker, a resident of Jackson. Accompanying him on the journey were his father, Robert Daniel Baker (78) of Lucasville, and their friend, 45-year-old Zebulon Logan from Lucasville. The purpose of their trip was to pick up a vehicle that Logan had recently bought.

The wreckage of the Piper PA 32 Cherokee Six was discovered in a field just a quarter-mile north of the James A. Rhodes Airport, where the plane had taken off from. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after the aircraft was spotted engulfed in flames. Tragically, all three occupants were found deceased.

Following the devastating crash, the Jackson County coroner transported the victims’ remains to the Montgomery County coroner’s office for further examination. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, alongside the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board, will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
