Police Hunt for Three Suspects in Fatal Home Invasion in Southwest Houston

Authorities in Houston, Texas, are on the lookout for three individuals believed to be responsible for a tragic incident that occurred in a residential neighborhood in southwest Houston. The suspects allegedly broke into a man’s home in the early hours of Sunday morning and fatally shot him in front of his wife and two young children.

The horrifying incident took place in the 5300 block of Castlecreek Lane, where the suspects forcefully entered the victim’s residence through a side door near the driveway. The noise caused by their intrusion alerted the man, who went to investigate the disturbance.

According to reports, nothing appeared to have been stolen during the break-in. The victim, in a bid to protect his family, instructed his wife to seek refuge in their bedroom while he confronted the intruders. Tragically, one of the suspects shot him, resulting in his untimely death in the hallway.

Heartbreaking Testimony from Victim’s Stepdaughter

Speaking to ABC13 anonymously, the victim’s stepdaughter recounted the harrowing event. She revealed that she was not present during the shooting but shared that the victim’s young children, aged 5 and 6, witnessed the brutal attack on their father.

The family, devastated by the loss, requested that the victim not be identified due to relatives residing in Cuba who had yet to be notified of the tragedy. Despite the overwhelming grief, the victim’s wife and children emerged physically unharmed from the ordeal but undoubtedly traumatized.

Police Investigation and Plea for Information

Detective David Higgs of the Houston Police Department (HPD) disclosed that multiple shell casings from two different firearms were recovered at the crime scene. The motive behind the senseless act remains unclear, with authorities treating it as an isolated incident.

Addressing concerns from the community, Higgs assured residents that there was no reason for alarm, emphasizing that the incident appeared to be targeted. However, HPD urged anyone with information or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
