Investigation underway into fatal crash in Oxford Township, Erie County

An investigation is currently underway into a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in Erie County on Sunday morning, as reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The incident took place in Oxford Township, specifically in the area of Mason Road.

Shortly after 6 a.m., troopers were alerted to the scene where a vehicle had crashed and overturned. The driver of a Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound when the vehicle crossed over the centerline, veered off the road, and collided with a fire hydrant and fence post before ultimately landing upside down.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old John Donald from Sandusky, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. As a result, he was ejected from the vehicle and tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed his passing.
