Tragic Three-Car Crash Leaves One Dead and Three Injured in Southeast Salem

A devastating three-car crash in southeast Salem on Friday has left one woman dead and three others injured, according to the Salem Police Department.

The incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Street Southeast and Oakhill Avenue Southeast, where emergency responders found seven individuals involved in the collision. Four of the individuals sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Salem Hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, one of the injured individuals, identified as 81-year-old Lynda Bush, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigations into the crash revealed that Bush had been a passenger in a black BMW driven by Martin Lorin. The collision occurred as Lorin was making a left turn onto 12th Street from Oakhill Avenue, when a black Audi A6 travelling south on 12th Street collided with the BMW. The impact caused the BMW to crash into a Subaru that was stationary at the far side of the intersection.

Police have cited Lorin for failure to obey a traffic control device in connection with the crash.
