Three Dead in Fatal Plane Crash in Southeast Ohio
Three individuals tragically lost their lives in a plane crash that occurred in southeast Ohio on Saturday. The incident took place near the James A. Rhodes Airport, as reported by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities were alerted to a potential fire near the airport around noon in the vicinity of Keystone Station and Barton Roads. Upon reaching the scene, the Jackson Fire Department found an aircraft ablaze just off Barton Road. Despite efforts to extinguish the fire, emergency medical services personnel and deputies sadly confirmed the deaths of three passengers.
The aircraft involved in the crash was identified as a Piper Model # PA32-300, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigation led to the discovery of a vehicle belonging to one of the passengers, identified as the pilot, 44-year-old Daniel T. Baker, from Jackson.
The two other passengers were identified as Baker’s father, 78-year-old Robert Daniel Baker of Lucasville, and a friend, 45-year-old Zebulon D. Logan, also from Lucasville. Family members confirmed their identities and revealed that the men were on their way to Florida to collect a vehicle purchased by Logan.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for autopsies. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
