PAOLI, Ind. (WISH) — A murder suspect was apprehended in Paoli on Saturday following an intense standoff with law enforcement officers, as reported by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page.

Incident Details

Early on Saturday morning at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing 911 call reporting a shooting in the 4000 block of Fort Ritner Road. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered the lifeless body of a 21-year-old male identified as Kobe Stancombe from Bedford. Witnesses at the location informed authorities that the assailants had fled in a vehicle after the incident.

Suspects Identified

Two individuals, namely Casey C. Brown, 38, of Fort Ritner, and Bradley Harper Jr., 39, of Bedford, were identified as persons of interest in connection with the shooting. The suspects were reported to have left the scene in a black 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

Arrest and Standoff

Later that day, officers from the Paoli Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department spotted the black Jeep at a gas station on Main Street in Paoli. While Harper surrendered to authorities without resistance, Brown refused to comply, leading to a prolonged standoff. Despite attempts by law enforcement officers to negotiate and use non-lethal methods, Brown, who was armed, continued to defy orders.
