Gunshots Fired in Woodland
On the evening of February 16, residents in the vicinity of Ashley Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue reported hearing gunshots being fired in the area. Authorities were alerted to the scene, but upon arrival, vehicles and individuals had already fled. Two spent casings were found in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex, with one bullet piercing a residence on the 400 block of Ashley Avenue. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. At present, there are no clear descriptions of the suspects involved. The individuals linked to the incident were associated with a black BMW sedan, a white Dodge Charger, a black Chevrolet truck, and a blue Honda sedan, all of which departed before the authorities arrived. The case remains under active investigation.
Driver Arrested for DUI following Traffic Collision
At 6:50 p.m. on February 17, officers responded to a traffic obstruction at the intersection of East Gibson Road and Matmor Road. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a single vehicle had collided and become lodged on the center median. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Woodland resident Misael Victorino, exhibited signs of intoxication. Following field sobriety tests, Victorino was taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol and subsequently booked into Yolo County Jail.

Arrest Made in DUI-Related Incident
On the evening of February 18, officers were summoned to North Pioneer Avenue and Kentucky Avenue following a report of a white minivan losing control and striking a curb. The driver, Charles Benjamin Ramirez, a 54-year-old Woodland resident, was found to be impaired. Ramirez resisted arrest and engaged in a brief altercation with officers before being subdued. He was booked into Yolo County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, and an outstanding warrant.
Assault on Employee Leads to Arrest
On February 19, officers responded to an incident where a male individual spat in an employee’s face after trespassing behind a counter. The perpetrator, identified as 69-year-old Woodland resident Richard Vigil, was apprehended and taken into custody for battery. During transportation to jail, a collision occurred involving a citizen’s vehicle and the patrol car. Vigil was medically assessed and subsequently booked into Yolo County Jail. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the officer or the citizen involved. The California Highway Patrol was called in to investigate the collision.
Update on HOST Activities
Last week, the Homeless Outreach Street Team (HOST) made a total of 73 contacts and provided services to 34 individuals, with four individuals accepting assistance. Additionally, 16 homeless camps were tagged, and nine clean-ups were conducted. The team also carried out 22 downtown patrols over the course of the week.
