Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police in Chandigarh have taken action against a father-son duo who have been accused of assaulting an 18-year-old youth in Sector 20. The suspects have been identified as Mohit and Saksham, respectively.

The victim, Ratul Birla, a first-year student of BCA at SD College in Sector 32, Chandigarh, filed a complaint with the police detailing the events that led to the assault. Ratul mentioned that his father works in FCI, Orissa, and his mother is a government teacher in Punjab.
According to Ratul’s account, the incident occurred on a Friday evening when Saksham, who resides in the same area, called him to meet at the parking lot of a private hospital in Sector 20 around 7 pm. Upon arrival, Ratul found Saksham accompanied by 15 individuals armed with sticks. Saksham accused Ratul of getting too close to his female friend and proceeded to physically assault him. The attack was even recorded by one of Saksham’s friends on a mobile phone.
In a panic, Ratul managed to escape and immediately contacted his father, Mohit, for help. However, when Ratul reached the society gate, he was shocked to find Mohit there, who instead of assisting him, also assaulted him. The accused individuals then fled the scene after issuing threats.
The severity of the incident led to the registration of a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 148 (rioting with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 307 (attempt to murder), 427 (mischief causing damage), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).

This altercation has left the community in shock, highlighting the importance of maintaining peace and resolving conflicts through non-violent means.
