Three Arrested in Southeast Portland Carjacking Incident
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three individuals have been taken into custody following their alleged involvement in a harrowing carjacking incident at gunpoint in Southeast Portland. The incident, which occurred late Thursday night, resulted in a man sustaining injuries.
Police Response
Shortly before 11:30 p.m., Portland police received a distressing report of an armed robbery involving a Ford Econoline van with gunshots being fired. The incident took place near Southeast Harold Street and 128th Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed the van being driven away and immediately initiated a pursuit. The driver of the van, identified as 30-year-old Robert Morgan, was apprehended by law enforcement.
Details of the Incident
Upon further investigation by PPB detectives, it was revealed that Morgan had discharged shots into the van, subsequently passing the firearm to another individual who then proceeded to assault the van’s driver before absconding with the vehicle. The other two suspects involved in the incident made their escape in a purple Suzuki SUV.
Following a search, the purple Suzuki was located in a parking lot on Southeast 122nd Avenue and Powell Boulevard. The two remaining suspects, identified as Zachary Rose, 25, and Jeremy Bute, 34, were apprehended by authorities.

Recovery of Weapon and Arrests
A firearm was discovered in the purple Suzuki, with officers suspecting it to be the same weapon used by Morgan during the carjacking. Morgan has been charged and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on counts of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery (carjacking), Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and other related charges. Meanwhile, Rose and Bute were taken into custody on unrelated arrest warrants.
Victim’s Condition
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
