Her first job as a labourer at the massive construction project at Cambie Street and 41st Avenue was both a source of pride and a means of supporting her loved ones.
Tragic Accident
On a fateful Wednesday, tragedy struck when a load broke free from one of the cranes at the construction site, plummeting hundreds of feet and fatally striking Flores. Her common-law husband, Daniel Hernandez, who also worked at the site, received the devastating news while away for an appointment.
Heart-Wrenching Loss
Upon returning to the site, Hernandez was confronted with a scene of chaos and grief. The realization that his beloved wife had been taken from him in an instant was a blow that he struggles to comprehend. The couple’s 16-year-old son, Diego, was informed of the tragic news by his father, leaving him devastated and in disbelief.
