On a fateful Friday morning, a heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Nelamangala traffic police limits, claiming the lives of a 52-year-old visually impaired man and his caretaker, who was also partially blind. The tragedy struck near Yentaganahalli on NH-75, a bustling highway that connects different parts of Karnataka.

The victims, identified as Sridhar and Archana, had been residing in Yentaganahalli for the past two months. Sridhar, who reportedly worked in a school in Magadi, relied on Archana for assistance in his daily activities. The duo was on their way to catch a bus to Bengaluru to meet a friend when the accident occurred.

The fatal collision occurred between 6.45am and 7am, as they were crossing the highway. An overspeeding two-wheeler rider, later identified as Ajith Nayak, 45, a manager with an MNC, struck them with great force. The impact was so severe that Nayak was dragged for nearly 100 metres before landing in a drain, along with his bike.

Despite wearing a helmet, Nayak sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital. The police swiftly responded to the scene and seized the bike after retrieving it from the drain. The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning the untimely loss of two lives.
