Hospital Patient in Medical Gown, IV in Arm Steals Ambulance in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – Fairfax County police have apprehended a hospital patient who allegedly stole an ambulance while still clad in a medical gown and with an IV still attached to his arm. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Rickey Lowe of Manassas.

According to authorities, Lowe was a passenger in a stolen Toyota Corolla that was reported missing from Prince William County on February 14. The driver of the stolen vehicle has been named as 29-year-old Xxeavius Romoance Marlow, also of Manassas.

Police reported that Marlow crashed the stolen vehicle upon spotting officers in the vicinity of Route 50 and I-66. All five occupants, including Lowe, were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Following medical care, Marlow was taken into custody and charged with grand larceny, being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Meanwhile, while undergoing medical attention, Lowe absconded from the emergency room in his hospital gown, with the IV still in his arm, before proceeding to steal a Medical Transport vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later discovered abandoned in the 4200 block of Annandale Road in Annandale. A search was immediately launched, but Lowe was not located at that time.

Law enforcement officers eventually apprehended Lowe near a hotel in Manassas, where he was safely taken into custody. Lowe was subsequently transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with grand larceny. He is currently being held on a $2,000 bond.
