Tractor-Trolley Accident Claims 24 Lives in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh

Tragedy struck in the quiet district of Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning when a tractor-trolley carrying devotees overturned and plunged into a pond, resulting in the loss of 24 lives, including eight children. The incident occurred on the Patiyali-Dariyavganj road under the Patiyali police station area as the occupants of the vehicle were on their way to take a bath in the Ganga river.

Details of the Accident

According to Inspector General of Aligarh Range Shalabh Mathur, the driver lost control of the tractor-trolley while attempting to overtake another vehicle, causing it to overturn and fall into the seven to eight-foot-deep pond. In addition to the fatalities, 15 to 20 individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences for the lives lost and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of each deceased individual and Rs 50,000 to the injured. The tragic incident has left the community in mourning, with local residents joining forces to assist in the rescue efforts.

Identification of the Deceased

Among those who tragically lost their lives in the accident were individuals ranging from elderly women to young children. The police have identified 22 of the deceased, with two bodies yet to be identified.
