Woman in Custody After Chase from Oconee County, S.C. to Lavonia, G.A.

In a dramatic turn of events, a woman has been apprehended following a chase that spanned from Oconee County, South Carolina to Lavonia, Georgia on Tuesday evening. The pursuit came to a halt at a graveyard in Lavonia, G.A., where the suspect was finally captured.

Observation and Initiation of Traffic Stop

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office first noticed a dark blue Scion with a Georgia license plate during a routine patrol on West Bennett Road near Westminister around 6 p.m. Deputies suspected that the same vehicle was involved in a shoplifting incident at a local business the previous day, prompting them to initiate a traffic stop.

Identification and Attempted Arrest

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 23-year-old Cheyenne Nicole Moore from West Union, South Carolina. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Moore’s driver’s license was suspended and she had two outstanding warrants, one for possession of methamphetamine and another from the city of Walhalla, S.C. As deputies tried to place Moore under arrest, she abruptly drove off, endangering a deputy in the process.

Chase and Capture

A high-speed chase ensued, leading law enforcement through various roads before transitioning onto Highway 11 and eventually onto Interstate 85 southbound into Georgia. The pursuit finally came to an end at a cemetery on Arlington Drive in Lavonia, G.A., after Moore damaged several graves and attempted to flee on foot. The Lavonia Police Department captured the suspect and handed her over to the Georgia State Patrol.
