Teen Driver Caught Speeding in Watson
Last night, a 17-year-old provisional driver had his licence suspended after being caught driving at a dangerous speed in Watson, ACT. The incident occurred on Phillip Avenue, where City patrol officers spotted a white Mazda 6 sedan racing down the road at 117km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Reckless Driving on Antill Street
As the vehicle turned onto Antill Street in Dickson, the young driver continued to display reckless behaviour by overtaking other motorists at high speed. The officers quickly initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as the 17-year-old male provisional licence holder, who had four passengers in the vehicle.
Immediate Suspension and Traffic Infringement Notice
Upon questioning, the teenager admitted that he was speeding because he was rushing to a friend’s house. As a result of his dangerous actions, officers issued him with an Immediate Suspension Notice (ISN), suspending his licence for 90 days. Additionally, a Traffic Infringement Notice (TIN) was issued for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, carrying a penalty of $1841.00 and six demerit points.
