Clark County School District Teacher Arrested on Child Abuse Charges

A teacher from the Clark County School District has been arrested and is facing charges of child abuse, according to officials from the school district.

59-year-old Rima Villaret was taken into custody on Wednesday, February 21, and has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center. She is facing three counts of child abuse or neglect, three counts of battery on a vulnerable person, and one count of false imprisonment, as stated by CCSD.

The arrest follows an investigation that was launched at C.V.T. Gilbert Elementary School in Las Vegas. Villaret, who worked as an Early Childhood/Special Education teacher, has been a staff member of the district since July 2016, according to CCSD.

Villaret has been placed on home assignment as per the terms of the agreement with the employee’s union and is prohibited from entering school premises.

Gilbert Magnet Elementary School is situated in the 2100 block of West Cartier Avenue in North Las Vegas, close to Carey Avenue and MLK Boulevard.
