The shooting took place in the 900 block of Center Street North, just a stone’s throw away from both Legion Field and the Smithfield Library. Police received a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple shots fired in the area, with four individuals being shot outside a house at a neighbourhood car wash.
Three of the victims tragically lost their lives at the scene, while Kevin McGhee was rushed to UAB Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities believe that at least one of the victims was targeted in the attack, and the motive behind the senseless act remains unclear.
