Opelousas Police Seek Public’s Help in Solving Fatal Shooting
The St. Landry Crime Stoppers is reaching out to the public for assistance in solving a tragic fatal shooting that took place in the city of Opelousas, Louisiana. The incident occurred on February 16, 2024, at 12:05 am in the 900 block of Patsy Street.

Details of the Incident
Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux of the Opelousas Police Department revealed that officers were called to the scene in response to a medical emergency. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of Christopher Lavergne, a black male who had been shot multiple times.
Chief Thibodeaux stated that evidence at the scene suggested Lavergne was shot at close range while facing his assailant. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
