Investigation Underway After Woman’s Body Found on UGA Campus

Authorities at the University of Georgia, in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, are currently conducting an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body near the intramural fields in the wooded area behind Lake Herrick on UGA’s campus on Thursday afternoon.

The incident came to light after officers received a call just past noon from an individual expressing concern about a friend who had gone for a run at UGA’s intramural fields but had not returned.

During a later press conference, Chief Clark clarified that the victim was not a UGA student but was, in fact, a student at another educational institution. According to reports from our affiliate, WSB-TV, the victim has been identified as a nursing student from Augusta University attending the school’s Athens campus.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unconscious individual who was not breathing. Despite attempts to administer lifesaving measures, the person was pronounced dead on site. The individual exhibited visible injuries, prompting suspicions of foul play in the woman’s death.
